Stigma
Just another picture of the stigma part of a Gumamela flower in one summer morning under the shade.
I’ve been a fan of this kind of flower since I was a kid. Together with my playmates, we used to make this as one of the ingredients in making a sort of soap bubbles using one of the branches of a papaya plant. As I go with the very details of this kind of flower, the stigma part is one of the most important part of this flower, for it is the one that receives the pollen, and is responsible for the creation of the seeds and also of the growth process of the plant. And to my amazement, this flower is also considered as medicinal, since according to studies, this can help cure cough, fever, headaches, high blood pressure and boils. But as the saying goes, the best cure for any ailment is still, prevention 🙂
beautiful photo.. i remember also that me and my cousins used to play with gumamela when we’re kids.. brings back wonderful memories, thanks.
thanks, Elizz 🙂
Kids nowadays are not into these kind of stuff…at an earlier age, instead of playing with other kids, they instead hold either a tablet or an iPad as their game buddy…
so true mel.. well, those were the days..
So pretty 🙂
thank you very much 🙂
hi Mel … yes, i too had that moment with my cousins when we would blow bubbles with the beautiful gumamela crushed into pieces to get out the substance mixed with water and detergent. now that i see beauty in nature with some respect, i am grateful that there are processed bubble-making solutions so that we can spare the lowly yet beautiful gumamela from being trampled … sorry if i am bursting anyone’s bubbles.
thank you for your comment 🙂
Whenever my niece sees this kind of flower, I tend to explain that the flower is more of a medicinal plant rather than a toy 🙂 Truly, times has changed…the kids in my neighborhood now seems to enjoy more in gadgets + computer games, rather than the traditional toys.
