“A vacation or holiday is a specific trip or journey, usually for the purpose of recreation or tourism. People often take a vacation during specific holiday observances, or for specific festivals or celebrations. Vacations are often spent with friends or family.” – (As defined in Wikipedia.org)
After a year of not being into vacation or getaway, where the main reason of doing so is to simply unwind and away from technology such as Internet, mobile phones, televisions…me and my wife traveled and had our vacation south of Negros Occidental (Philippines), where both local and foreign tourists referred to as little “Boracay”. We stayed at Sulu Sunset Beach Resort, one of the numerous resorts along the so-called Sugar Beach Resort in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental. The travel time via a public bus took us more than 5 hours, plus, being in a “bangka” (small boat), costing us an extra 20 minutes, just to get there at our chosen place. Although the trip is tiring, but it was worth it. The photo below are just one of the “bangkas” that can transport tourists or visitors to the Sugar Beach Resorts.
A pose of mine taken by my wife as we are preparing to ride the “bangka” in going to the shorelines of Sugar Beach Resort.
During the travel to the shorelines, this so-called cave caught my attention, and it was considered as one of the landmark that we are nearing indeed the place of the resort. This cave was featured already in some of the local and foreign travel magazines.
Upon reaching the shorelines of the resort, we were greeted by the facade of the resort were we are to stay. The owner, of German nationality, and also a Filipino greeted us and welcomed us with a drink. The owner was very friendly, and as mentioned in one the comments in the tripadvisor.com.
Upon entering one of the 11 cottages which are made up of Nipa huts, we were surprised by the ambiance and it seems, that we are on our 2nd honeymoon. The place was very cozy, relaxing, and very peaceful, perfect for a total getaway and rest from the busy life in the city.
One of the sunsets in the southern part of the province, Negros Occidental.
The bar/restaurant greeted us when we retired from shooting sunsets. The food that the resort serves were the best, from morning to evening…both European and Filipino cuisine were EXCELLENT! I gave the food rating 5 stars 🙂
The photos below, were some morning shots that greeted us the next day. Clear blue skies, clear blue waters = Swimming!
A 3-days, 2-nights vacation ended with a bang! We had our great time together. It was also a form of building up a stronger relationship. I was a bit teary-eyed while leaving because, it will take a long, long time that I can do this again. But, no matter how tiring the travel back to our home, the trip and the vacation were really worth it.
Hope you’ll like to the photos in here. Kind of hard to really focus on shooting where the ambiance was very very tempting to be always on swimming 🙂
